My ancestor NANCY SINKS (born 25 March 1808 in Kentucky) was married to THOMAS BENNETT of East Feliciana Parish , LA , on 11th March 1824 in Amite Co. , MS. I can find no record of any SINKS families in or around Amite Co. , MS during this time period. I do not know the name of NANCY SINKS' parents , but believe her father to be the JACOB SINKS found in the 1820 Feliciana census , with 1 male under 10 , 1 male 26-45 , 4 females under 10 , 1 female 10-16 (my NANCY would fit here) , and 1 female 26-45. I cannot find JACB SINKS , nor any other SINKS for that matter ,in any LA census again until 1850 , when I found a JACOB SINKS , aged 72 years , born in VA , living alone. I believe this to be the same JACOB SINKS who was enumerated in 1820 East Feliciana Parish. I can find no other SINKS in LA. , other than a MARY ANN SINKS , who married a JOHN LEBO in Natchitoches parish , LA in 1831 , around the time that THOMAS BENNETT and NANCY SINKS BENNETT were thought to also be in Natchitoches parish. I feel it is quite possible that this MARY ANN SINKS was a sister to NANCY SINKS. I know from NANCY SINKS' birthplace that she was connected to some SINKS who were in Kentucky at some point.I found a JACOB SINKS who was married to CATY FEWELE on 3 July 1801 in Pendleton Co. , KY., and wonder if this could be the same JACOB SINKS who ended up in LA. I know JACOB SINKS was in LA by at least 1812 , as he was listed as a soldier from LA in the War of 1812.The only reference to the surname FEWELE that I could find in LA was in the minutes of the East Feliciana Parish , LA police jury for the 1820's. A "Mr. Fewele " is mentioned one time , but he does not appear on the 1820 Feliciana Parish Census. I really hope someone can help me. I've have been unsuccessful at unraveling the mystery of this line of my family for a long time. Sinks is/was a very uncommon surname in Louisiana , so I feel it is probable that the few that were here were connected in some way. Please , if you have or know of ANY SINKS in LOUISIANA in ANY time period , or ANY SINKS in KENTUCKY around the late 1700's and early 1800's , please contact me!!! Also , if you know of any SINKS/FEWELE(FEWELL) connections , please let me know. I will be eternally grateful! I was so excited and surprised to find that the surname SINKS actually had a mailing list. I look forward to learning more about the SINKS from all over the US . Thanks so much for any help someone out there may be able to give me. Sandra Gilbreath
