Author: LaylaCries Surnames: Classification: death Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.sinks/132/mb.ashx Message Board Post: "Dickson County Tennessee County and Circuit Court Minutes 1816-1828 and Witness Docket" by Carol Wells; Jan 2, 1826 page 110, Powel Sinks Jr adm. estate of Powel Sinks Sr dec'd July 7, 1828 Powell Sinks adm of father dec'd not much Sinks in the book but does mention insolvents. 1826 Powel Sinks (Jr)to oversee new road. April 1827 Jesse Sinks worked on building new road. (stayed in Tn and so did Andrew who isn't mentioned) Oct 3, 1825 Henry Sinks to oversee road (think he is the one on Hamilton Co Ill 1830/40 census and Zach 1840) I think I saw a Hamilton Co Ill 1830 voter list somewhere for Powel Sinks it would be this one (Jr) Not from this book it was so hard to find the Sinks name in early Tn that LDS charged five dollars extra (I was glad to get a piece of info for five bucks in March 2006) "Dickson County (Tn) Clerk Accounts of insolvent estates, 1860-1896", administrators settlements Apr 1823-Feb 1860 etc. FHL film no. 497183 1826 buyers Jesse Sinks, Henry Sinks, Zach Sinks (50 acres of land), and Powel Sinks, (brothers?) Elizabeth (Lyle?) Sinks (think she is wife of Powell Jr who may not been in Tn for long judgeing by bio of George Sinks of Henry Co Mo) 1824 Martha Sinks buyer, think it was a Hawkins estate. Who was she, could she be wife of Powell Sr? 1830 St Louis Mo census Powell (Linker) Sinks, think he is son of Jesse who stayed in Tn. The Linker name I know is early settlers in Indiana, and think Jesse first wife who is unknown was a Linker hence the Linker middle name. Just about all the people listed are related to each other so Powell Sr wife had to be related to the buyers tho I can't find marriage records that I need. Some of those buyers were Rev War vets from Va that some went to NC and some were related far back to Maryland, the Russel and Warren names tie in with them too, and Sinks named thier sons those, but I don't know where my notes are at the moment. A Joseph Lisle was a buyer and his name is pronounced Liles, Lyles etc. Thats about it till I get back to the library, I am switching from my pittsdebi46 email to this one. I sent off about a year ago for "Biographical History Lacrosse, Monroe and Juneau Counties Wisconsin" 1892 (just one page) don't know where it is at the moment but the Sinks, I forgot which one (William?) but he was son of Powel Linker Sinks of St. Louis.
