NC Land Entry Book, FHC Roll # 0019473 1778-1793, July 8, 1779 Paul Sink enters a claim to 100 acres of land lying in Orange Co on the waters of Travers Creek of Haw River boundid on the west by Guilford Co line and on the north by land of Tho. Sharpe including tract of Henry Straders imporovement. The warrant was never issued and the land is now in Alamance Co. With Powell being a very uncommon name I think with him using it as early as 1785 it may be a bit of proof for ya'll applying to join DAR or SAR. I'll get back to this when I can. When I helped on the Hillis Rev War soldier I searched Tn counties and happened on Marshall Co where a photo was taken of a memorial stone. Listed were names of Rev War soldiers who died or once lived in the county, it was the last piece we needed, so I got the book and looked him up and used that info also tho his name was spelled Hilles. The book was "Twenty Four Hundred Tennessee Pensioners-Revolution War of 1812" by Zella Armstrong. His story is incredible as it was kept by the family and after the war he had a fight with a man that poked his eyes out so Hillis lived blind after the war. Other people had researched him so we connected by using that as reference. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
