If we could prove Powell Sinks Sr is the same Paul Sink of Rev War then we could start joining DAR. I helped one relative join but not on the Sinks name. We have to have marriage rocords on parents, grandparents, etc and same for death records and census records. I think the land record of the fifty acreas Powell Sr bought in Tn is probably recorded in North Carolina and he probably married in Pittsylivania Co. Va. tho I can't find it and the marriage record isn't as important as the death record; 1826 Dickson Co Tn. The fifty acres should be listed as bounty land somewhere and when he died Zach bought it. I think Zach had to be age 21 to buy land and was his son, then one of Zachs brothers had to have a son name Zach as two of them about the same age are related. (The third Zach went to Stoddard Co Mo. and had fought in Civil War) The 1850 census for Powell Sinks Jr may! be in Mo, and 1860 he was in Stoddard Co and Wayne Co Mo at time of Civil War tho I have no census record of him. Then 1870 St. Genevieve Co Mo. According to recent post by one of you he was still living as of 1876 but in Madison Co Mo. I recoken working in the timber industry because thats what a bunch of Sinks did. It looks like he died before 1880. When we find his obit it hopefully will mention he was the son of a Rev War vet, if he indeed was. Yeah I believe Powell Jr was married to Elizabeth Lile and they divorced. The reason I say that is it was told to me that if women divorced some of them didn't remarry. Some women believed in intimate contact with only one man, it was a personal belive not a religious teaching. But if widowed they usally had to marry pretty fast for the kids sake. Elizabeth didn't have to remarry as she had kids old enough to take care of her. I'll get back to this as soon as I can. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
