    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: LaylaCries Surnames: Sinks, Clavell Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.sinks/140/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I removed Linker as his middle name, when they transcribed they had his first wife marrying him as Powell Linker, now he is listed as Powell Linkes. Until I find a middle name and probably won't I'm going to assume he is Paul Powell Sinks son of Jesse, and named afer his grandpa and uncle, so to distinquish him I put the P. as a middle name rather than P. for first Powell P. Sinks born 1809 Tn 1829 married Dec 8 Sarah Clavell, her father most likely Zadoc Clavell who was missing from Ky census at this time, one of her sisters married a Todd, one married a Musick about the same time frame in St. Louis. The Musick family has the best researched genealogy book, but this Musick was not researched in it therefore the Todd and Sinks wasn't linked in it. Near miss, what a shame. 1830 Powell Sinks census St. Ferdinand, St. Louis, also someone sent me him as Hwel and said a James Sinks also was also in this county. Powell under age 30, Sarah under 20. He was listed as Howell Sinks. 1840 Powell Sinks, Cole Co. Mo I ask for a lookup on this and was told Asa Sinks was in this county too. one male under age 5, one son under age 10, 3 daughters under age 5, one under age 10, Powell & Sarah age 20-30. listed as Powell Snik by the lookup person. Hes in same age group both census. 1841 Powell Sinks bought 54 acres at Island #2 Feb 19, St. Louis Mo. 1843 Sarah Ann Clavell Sinks died, burial place unk (on the Island?) 1844 Powell marrys Roxeanne Crow Apr 10 1850 Powell Sinks age 40 born Tn farmer, (census Sept 12) Roxgan 29 Mo Lorenda 14 f Mo Henry 8 m Mo Fredona 5 f Mo Sylvester 2 Mo They also had a son name George who stayed in St Louis as far as I know. Thier son William George Sinks was on boat between St. Louis and New Orleans until cholera broke out. His bio is in Wisconsin, I'll get to that soon. Its not uncommon to have two kids with same name in case one dies they want a certain name to remain, I've seen it in German and Irish families. William had asthma. George may have also been working on the boat at this time. Two doors away is: Domitille D. St Vrain 40 Mo Nancy 34 Ky (is she a Clavell sister?) Benedict 14 m Mo Augustus 19 m Mo Felepety H. 8 f Mo James R. 6 m Mo Benjamin S. 2 Mo Eveline Sinks 15 f Mo maybe should be spelled Evelyn, think she married a Menke. A few census later in Sam Sinks family in Butler Co Mo with a daughter also with name of Evelyn. 1857 Powell Sinks died St.Louis Mo, burial place unk; his estate records are online at the St. Louis at USGenweb.
