Sink of Norfolk, VA and submitted to the Virginia State Library & Archives, Richmond, VA, in 1977, we find the following info: p. 4 The family of Zinck (Sink) which came to Franklin County, VA., was originally from Northampton and Chester County, Penn. Research in Pennsylvania shows the following: Abstract of Wills, Northampton Co., Penn. Vol XVI, Easton Public Library. File 347 (1763). Henry Zinck (Tzinck, Zink, Sink), carpenter, Lehigh Township. Wife Elizabeth. Only on of his children listed which is Michael. 1763. Lancaster Co., Penn.,Intestate Records. Henry sink, Administration Bond dated 1814 (may be secured for $2.50). Same County--Will of Elizabeth Sink, 1842. T-1-138. "LANCASTER COUNTIANS IN THE VALLEY OF VIRGINIA", by M. Luther Heisey. (To Augusta County, Va.) Daniel Sink, who removed in 1752. Peter Sink of Northampton County, Penn., served in 1st Batt'n. of County Militia, Company 7, under Capt. Francis Rhoades. A Peter Sink is also listed in Virginia list of the Revolution. This Peter could be the same one or one of the Shenandoah County, Va. Sinks. Henry Sink lived in Chester County, Penn. 1758-59-60. A record of a Henry Sink marrying Elizabeth, widow of John Stager is in this county. John Stager died in June 1747. Michael Sink might have been his son (of Henry) by an earlier marriage or he could have been a brohter of Michael and named his son after his brother. Graydon Sink says he has never found tax tickets on any other Michael after 1775. Michael and Mary Sink appear to be the parents of Abraham and Stephen Sink of Franklin County, VA. The names of Stephen and Abraham appear in Chester County, Penn. records from taxable age until their departure for Virginia. Graydon Sink believes that the following may be older brothers of Stephen and Abraham: Jacob, who probably settled in Bourbon Co., Ky, about 1778 Paul, who probably settled in Salisbury Co., N.C. in 1778 John, either died or came to Franklin Co., Va. with his brothers." Hi all, I have a part of a copy from John Lowry"s Day Book. And Gurss what I found? My GGGrandfathers name. POWELL SINKS, and a couple of other SINKS family members names. "In 1847 reads. This book were a present to John LOWRY in the year of 1847 and the month of July, 20th Day. It also reads: Jeremiah MORGAN left home for Mexico 1848. Names mentioned in 1847 were; David LOWRY, Thomas COCKRAN, William WILLBANKS, Wilkson DIXON, Elizabeth LOWRY, George TALOR, David SIMES, Rawlings BOYLE, James McRONNELS, Alexander LOWRY, William BRADFORD, Daniel TOLLEY, Joseph THARP, Powell SINKS, Silvi SINKS, Jerry PIERCE, Henderson CEMBEL, Williiam A. CANEL, Zachariah SINKS, William CANNON, George CRISEL, Carter WILKEY, Abel ALLEN. The SINKS names are mentioned again in 1849, 1850,1851,1852, then not again till 1856, 1857. Silva SINKS and Zachariah SINKS were in the 1850 Jefferson Co. Census. Also according tho this little bit of information. 4 of John and Nancy Lowry children married into the SINKS family." There are More names mentioned.But I am interested in the Sinks Line. I somehow beleve that Zachariah,Silvi and Powell are related. But not too sure of how. George Sinks, taxed in 1779 Randolph Co., NC. was a Quaker. His second wife was Rachel Hoover. Came to Montgomery Co., OH in 1802. Was he a member of theSink/Zink family who immigrated on the Richard and Mary 1754 ? Men in this family were Christopher, Christian, Jacob and Andrew, said to be from Wurttemburg, Germany. Can anyone locate this group in the Wurttemburg Emigration Index. I have seen the list of the group of Zinks who immigrated in 1752, but I don't believe he is the George on that list. I began doing research on my Zink-Sink line back in the '70's to '80's, but have hardly looked at for the last 8 years. Am trying to re-orient myself and get the data I already have into the computer. I'm willing to share everything I have with the hope it will help someone and perhaps I'll get feedback on the accuracy (or fallacy) of my conclusions - and if someone shares their data with me, that is just icing on the cake. As for published books - The only ones I know of are: 1) "SINK DESCENDANTS, JACOB ZINCK PIONEER, ZINCK, ZINK, AND SINK" by Violet M. Sink Stokes, pub. 1979 & 1983 2) "THE ZINK FAMILIES IN AMERICA", by D. Z. Kellogg 3) "SINKS: A FAMILY HISTORY", by John D. Sinks and Karen M. Cain of Arlington, VA, pub. 1980? I have none of those books, but have seen them and my line is not represented there. I do have a manuscript titled, "THE SINK FAMILY IN VIRGINIA", written by Richard F. Cox, Jr., which was Submitted in Fulfillment of the Requirements of THE 1973 NATIONAL ARCHIVES INSTITUTE ON GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH. Also, a manuscript titled, "ZINCK DATA", which I found at the State Library & Archives in Richmond, VA, submitted 1977, by J D Sink of Norfolk, VA which very closely follows Richard Cox's paper. Also, some pages of "THE DESCENDANTS OF STEPHEN SINK" written by Mr. Graydon Sink. These all have some of my line in them. Are there other Sink/Zink publications that anyone knows about? My line is Jacob>Michael>Stephen>Henry>Stephen>Steph>Olive (my grandmother). We find them in possibly North Hampton Co. Am researching Peter SINKS, who married Susannah BECKNER, May 6, 1816, Franklin County, Virginia. He was born 1785, in Virginia or North Carolina. He died Oct. 20, 1872, Hamilton County, Illinois. I think, but have not proved, that Peter might be the son of Paul-Powell SINKS-ZINKS, who was on the Tax Lists and owned land in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. Paul SINKS was also listed on the 1819, Franklin County, Virginia Tax List next to Peter SINKS. I also believe, but still no proof, that this Paul is the same one who was in Captain DONOHO's Company in the North Carolina Line, Rev. War. I also believe, but still no proof, that he is the same Powell SINKS who died in Dickson County, Tennessee, in 1826. Hi, I'm a descendant from Jacob Zink of early 1700 in PA. There were several Zink or Zinck who immigrated within 20-30 years. It was my understanding that our line - Michael>Stephen went to Franklin Co., VA where they stayed and went with the spelling of SINK with many descendants still there today. Another line went to North Carolina and used the spelling of SINKS. Is this mailing list for all of the above names or only Sinks? Married Ruth HART b.7/25/1860 Woodbury Tenn. d. 5/18/1935 Hamilton Co. Illinois. Ruth and Peter had 12 children 4 died in infancy. Remaining were, Powell Robert (my frandfather), William, Grace, Albert, Ed, Alice, Arthur, and Vina. Ruth Hart's parents were; D.M. Hart from N.C. and Lockie J. Lance from Tenn.
