My father's grandmother's maiden name was Sinks, but that's about as far as I have gotten with this part of my heritage. Purportedly, she was an adopted Native American Indian. There is no reason t question this, as it has been confirmed by my grandmother 50 years ago, and my cousin's grandfather 50 years ago. I did not even know I had this cousin until I "met" her on the internet through geneaology research in the Haight family tree. Thanks again for your input! Bee

Maureen Do you know if any of the Sinks family you visited had ancestors/relatives in TN? Jo Hello all, I just wanted to write and tell all. I had a wonderful time at a small family reunion in Kansas. I am researching the SINKS line from Hamilton Co. Illinois, and most seem to be very quite about the family, (skeletons in the closet?). And of those who will talk with you say very little and can't remember whom was married to whom. And it was like hitting a brick wall. But then I found Hazel..... Here is how it happened. I was in contact with my Mom's cousin from Kansas. And we talked for about a year, and I met her son on the internet. Well he and I talk quit a bit. He told me alot about the family and haveing met only one other SINKS relative, I knew I had to go to Kansas. Well, I booked the flight and was there in no time. We talked about her father, William SINKS, whose exact birthdate is still in question. And about his life style. And what he did in Kansas. I learned he built a house out of the rocks he found plowing the ground. The house is still standing today. And it sure is beautiful. Hazel and her brother Lawrence are the nicest folks I have met in a long time. I thought, they really don't know me and I don't know them very well either. But when I got there it was like I have known these people most of my life. It was a real treat. And you betcha I am going back to see them again. You see, I never knew any of my SINKS relatives because of a divorce before I was born. And the SINKS family was not close to me. But I recommend to everyone, If you have a chance to meet a long lost cousin or Aunt. Please go. You will really enjoy it. Maureen Sinks Lenzo
