Surnames: Simpkins, Penn, Gale, Collins, Cranmer, Ford Classification: Death Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2AIBAIB/422 Message Board Post: My grandmother, Pearl Vivien Simpkins, b. 6 Aug 1918 in Trenton, NJ passed away on the 29th of July of this year in Fort Myers, Florida, where she & her late husband Gordon Penn bought a home back in 1980. She was the only surviving child out of 7 children born to the late John & Abbie Simpkins, and although she was born in Trenton, she spent the majority of her formative years in Barnegat, Ocean Cty, graduating from Barnegat HS in 1936. Her skill in the playing of the violin was so proficient that she was offered a scholarship to Julliard, but chose instead to marry Gordon Penn in 1937. She was multi-talented - she was able to sing, play the violin, piano and organ, and was a talented painter. She also tried her ambidextrous hands at ceramics, and did very well :) Pearl was the beloved mother of 2 daughters, 4 grandchildren & 3 great grandchildren. She will be very sorely missed.
