This correction is due to the cemetery headstone information for Flat Shoals Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Henry County, Georgia, according to website http://files.usgwarchives.org/ga/henry/cemeteries/cemetery2/flatshoals.txt George B. They had several children, two of whom were James Elisha Simpkins and Rebecca Annie Simpkins. James Elisha Simpkins (1877-1929) married Ardecie (yes, spelled Ardecie) Frances Ford (1876-1958) and they had James Ottis Simpkins (1900-1961). James Elisha Simpkins' sister, Rebecca Annie Simpkins (1882-1934) married Arthur Clifford Oakes on 14 Oct 1909 (in Atlanta, Fulton, Georgia) and they had my father, Homer Charles Oakes (1910-1998). They divorced - when? where? Rebecca probably kept the Oakes surname since she had a child. About 1928 Rebecca (probably Oakes) married George T. Edmondson (1866-1953). When Rebecca was an Edmondson, she died (25 Dec 1934) but apparently the state of Georgia records gave ancestry.com the name Jacobson rather than Edmondson. As far as I know, Rebecca had no other children. There is info that James Elisha Simpkins used Elisha Simpkins as his name. The children of George Beaton Simpkins & Mary Elizabeth Stanley were the following: James Elisha Simpkins 1877 - 1929; Bertha Jane Simpkins 1879 - 1942; Rebecca Annie Simpkins 1882 - 1934; Ida Belle Simpkins 1886 - 2006; John L Simpkins 1889 - 1973; Carl Newton Simpkins 1893 - 1950; Elizabeth P Simpkins 1895 - ?? ; Isaac Almand Simpkins 1898 - 1965 (he went by Almand); Zelma Prudence Simpkins 1900 - 1983 (she went by Prudence) and she helped raise my father.
