He was born in millville, NJ about 1852. I have found him in Census data from 1880 going forward in which I am sure I have the right Benjamin. Prior to that, I am not sure. The 1870 Census has a Benjamin Simpkins living in Millville with his age given as 19. There are about a dozen female Simpkins in the household and the oldest is Harriet, age 48. I could assume that this is the same Benjamin and that Harriet is his mother, but I want to make sure. I am hoping that someone can help me determine if I have the right Simpkins family. The information I have is VERY minimal. I have his name, and the fact that he was from Virginia, and he was born in January, between 1940 and 1950. He was in Georgia at least in 1971, although I don't know if he stayed in Georgia or went elsewhere. He had a relationship with a lady named Patsy Shelton, who was from Gordon County, GA, and had a son in January of 1972. Patsy may have been living in Fulton County at the time of her son's birth. My wife is a descendant of Mary Sympkins (also spelled Simpkins) b: 1822 PA d: 1901 Tuscarawas, OH and her husband Gabriel Watson, Jr. Descendants of this couple are eligible to join the genealogical societies associated with the War of 1812, which is how I came to find Mary's name during my research. Joseph and Alice are buried in a prominent position in the churchyard of St Nicholas's Church, Mavesyn Ridware. Does anyone have any details for the Simkins or Simpkins family of Staffordshire?
