Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/2AIBAIB/320.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Thanks for the information! Velma's daughter that you referred to must have been Lucille, who we were able to meet a few years ago. Did Velma ever say anything about a brother named Will, who disappeared not long after she went to live with one of her foster families? Any other information or details that you can remember--especially with regard to her father--would be much appreciated at any time in the future, or whenever you think of it. Thanks again!

Surnames: Waldroop, Bates Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2AIBAIB/320.1.1.1 Message Board Post: My name is Janet Waldroop, I am the daughter of Bessie and Will Waldroop. My parents married in 1904. I remembered Thelma JOHNSON BATES, We visited her and her husband and family several times when she I was a young child. And we called her Aunt Velma and she would visit us. Her husband was several years older than her and not in good health. They didn't have very much, they were poor but, Proud people. Velma lived with with my parents in the early 1900's. I think she might ha e gone with my parents on the wagon trip to New Mexico, I'm not sure. Samuel Simpkins was a BROTHER to Bessie Waldroop. My mother's Uncle. My mother loved Velma dearly. She was so sad to see her leave and go live with another lady. The other lady promised her many things and later Velma told my mother she wished she had never moved into this lady's home. They moved several places and I don't remember what happened after that. I remember Aunt Velma wore her hair on top of her head and had a! space between her teeth and had a daughter just like her. She was a very sweet woman. I think if you check the Vital Statitics out of Oklahoma City you will find her death information. Sincerely

I would like any information on S. Syrena to see if indeed these refs. are to the same woman and what Gower/Gowan she was married to prior to her marriage at age 34 to Thomas C. Casey.
