Hello distant (or not so distant) cousins, My line came from the UK to South Africa around the end of the 19th or beginning of the 20th century. The lineage goes as far back the late 19th century with Samuel Henry Simpkins. Do any of the British Simpkinses show anyone leaving for South Africa? Does anyone show a Samuel Henry at all? I believe he was Irish, but I am not certain of that. He is listed as "English" by South African registries, but I think an Irishman was classified as such at the time. My father is from Durban, but I don't think his parents were from there. They moved around a bit. Thanks for any help, -Rich Simpkins __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! My great grandmother was America Francis Goddard. Her parents were William Goddard and Matilda Lemmons. William's parents were John Goddard and Louvenia Simpkins. (spelling changes). I have two old charcoal portraits of Louvenia and John. They are from around the 1840's, possibly. On the back of the females, it has L.A. Simpkins. I take it that it was for Louvenia Simpkins. The portraits were wrapped in a cardboard box that said, "Bill's (my grandfather) great grandparents. So, this would be them. Also, I found a picture of a little boy. His name was Donald E. Simpkins. Any linkage? Know anything on my Louvenia? Any info could be helpful, thanks. Kaci Foster
