I live in New Jersey and yesterday I went on a Christmas Historical walk through the town of Morristown, NJ which has George Washington's Headquarters and alot of Revolutionary War history. One site I was at was the home of a revolutionary war doctor, whose daughter married Alexander Hamilton. This historic home is the Morristown Chapter of the DAR. I explained to the women in charge about our gggggggrandfather Martin Henry Shuman and she told me that if someone already is a member through him I should get their number that they were assigned and you can obtain through Washington a copy of their application which then could help me expedate mine. Of course I would have to produce proof of my direct line descendency. I don't really know if I would join if possible but thought it interesting to find out as much as I can about it.
