Marie, There are only 4 Shumans listed. From the DAR Patriot Index, Part III, p. 2661, publ. 1990: Shuman Adam: b. circa 1752 GR, d. 5-16-1832 PA, m. Elizabeth Curts, Pvt PA Christian: b. circa 1730 PA, d. prior to 8-3-1807 NC, m. X, Sol PA Martin: b. --- GR, d. 10-4-1793 GA, m. Tabitha ---, Sol SC Rudolph: b. circa 1748 GR, d. 4-22-1812 PA, m. Elizabeth --- CS PA [Pvt=Private, Sol=Soldier, CS=Civil Service] Instead of stating a DAR membership #, I suggest you write to the NSDAR, and ask for the most recent application for Martin Shuman, and request that the lineage descend thru the child of your particular line, if proven. The DAR Patriot Index is now 10 years old, and there may be more Shumans proven by now, and thru different children. I do not have all the updates. "Older" applications [before 1970ish] did not require as much documentation as they do today, so you want the most recent/most complete application. If the DAR member is still active, you have to be member or a prospective member to obtain that application. It is taking 6-8 weeks to process, and the $5 fee is non refundable. Send a $5.00 check (per application requested) made out to the Treasurer General NSDAR, and an SASE, to the: National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, 1776 D Street, NW Washington, DC 20006-5392 Record Copy Dept., Office of the Registrar General Hope that helps!
