Hi Everybody: Catherine Shuman Haught and her sister Sarah Elizabeth Shuman Mayfield, were both members of the "colonial dames". I just found a website which states that "they must be of lineal descendant of at least one ancestor who lived and served prior to 1701 in one of our 13 original colonies" and it goes on to state "services may be minister of the Gospel, attorney, land owner, merchant, Huguenot refurgee or any one of many civil services provided to a colony" This is exciting to me because if I can find a record of who they Catherine and Sarah claimed as this ancestor we maybe able to solve the who was grandpa Shuman saga.
