    3. Dear Barb: Thanks for the reminder - be careful though - there is a cosmetic company named the "Colonial Dames" and they are pretty tricky by just putting "Colonial Dames" down, next thing you know you have a hundred sites in your road. The site I found was "National Society of Colonial Dames" www.geocities.com/Heartland/Meadows/4399/cdxvii.html Address is National Society of Colonial Dames, 1300 New Hampshire Ave, Washington DC 20036 telephone 202-293-1700. I've already written my letter - so let's all hope I can get a copy of Catherine and Sarah Shuman's paperwork. Good Luck, Barb. I just found a website which states that "they must be of lineal descendant of at least one ancestor who lived and served prior to 1701 in one of our 13 original colonies" and it goes on to state "services may be minister of the Gospel, attorney, land owner, merchant, Huguenot refurgee or any one of many civil services provided to a colony" This is exciting to me because if I can find a record of who they Catherine and Sarah claimed as this ancestor we maybe able to solve the who was grandpa Shuman saga.
