This biographical sketch was posted on the BRETHREN list in response to a request for information about Ella Ebbert. I'm forwarding it here because it mentions her mother's name as having been "Schuman." For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Brethren religion, it is what is sometimes referred to as "Dunkard." Several of the locations where SHUMANs lived contain some sort of geographical element named "Dunkard", as in Dunkard's Run, Dunkard Creek, etc. so it obvious that our ancestors were neighbors to these people, although apparently few of the Shumans were members themselves. Today, this group consists of eight or nine separate denominations, of which the largest is called Church of the Brethren. I am a meber of the Old German Baptist Brethren, and so have a reason to subscribe to the BRETHREN list... JS Ella Ebbert was born in Kingman Ks October 27, 1885 parents William and Elizabeth Schuman Ebbert. Education McPherson College 1903-5 06-08 and 1911-14 BA 1914 spent one year at Bethany Bible School..
