CJ, Chris, William, and cousins, This evening I remembered that on our visit to WV last summer, when we spent an evening with Ron Sapp, a descendant of Philip, he shared some data with my sister and me. So, I went looking for it, and found that he indicates the following information: Philip SHUMAN, who was b. about 1774, and his wife Sophia had the following children: Rebecca, Jonah, William, John, Margaret Mary, and Jesse. the following two are pertinent to today's discussion: Margaret Mary Shuman - ------------------------------------------- Birth: 20 Nov 1814 Death: 20 Dec 1873 Spouse: John Schoonover Birth: 20 Nov 1811 Death: 5 Jan 1888 Children: William (1833-1917) Daniel (1836-1912) Sarah Jane (1838-) Jesse (1841-1937) Nancy Ann (1843-1924) John Cyrus (1846-1931) Mary (1848-1855) James Wesley (1853-) Thomas Benton (1856-1948) 1.6 Jesse Shuman - ------------------------------------------- Birth: bet 1815 - 1820 Death: abt 1847 Spouse: Mary E. Cox Children: Philip (1842-1872) According to his data, the question raised by CJ is answered to the extent of saying her information was substantially correct, and there is not very much more in Ron's files at least regarding Jesse SHUMAN. It shows that he was deceased prior to 1850, which would provide evidence that her finding regarding Mary Cox petitioning the court for her dowry was a valid request. The son Philip died at the age of 30. Does anyone have any information regarding him? Thanks!
