Joseph is the oldest son of John of Monongalia Co, the original immigrant to the area (along with Henry and Philip). Elizabeth's father was Alexander Beaty, who lived in the area around Mannington, now Marion Co. But in 1817, that was part of Harrison Co. So... who was Molly? She was Alexander's wife. We don't know why she signed instead of him, but we have a copy of the original, and that's clearly what it says. Regards!
