    1. Re: [SHUMAN] New Query
    2. CJ, I will try and not cover what other researchers have related to you. But for future referance. The courthouse in Monroe county , Ohio has had several fires over the years. One in 1840, with the Deed Books being burnt the worst, another fire in 1867 some records survived both fires. I spent one day there and had clues with which to look for some records and never did find the ones, I wanted. They have been working or have held back some of the burnt volumes, as I never saw them. I was told they exist, I don't know for sure. Anyway the Jacob SHUMAN son of John Shuman of Ministers Run and his wife Mary Kendle had several children one of which was Jesse, who never got married. His sister Mary married John Dougherty, they are all buried in the Moose Ridge Cemetery just out of Woodsville. Now earlier as notred there was a land transaction involving Philip Shuman of Wetzel Co., WV and was listed as the grandson of Jesse Shuman. This was in 1863. There may be more records in the courthouse, that may point to this Jesse and Philip W Shuman. Another source of information was taken from the local newspaper The Spirit of Democracy dated September 21, 1853 it was a Probate Notice: Final account of Jonas Shuman grandson of Philip Shuman. I hope this helps and if you get it figured out please advise everybody. It still may tie in to William or John or possibly Henry. William E Shuman
