I am still searching for connections to the Schuman line. My Schuman's settled in western New York State, first in Buffalo and then shortly thereafter in the Olean/Allegany area. Anton (Anthony) Schuman appears to have come to this country in about 1858. He is reportedly from Bavaria. His death certificate says only that he is from Germany and that his father's name was also Anton. Mother's maiden name is unknown. His obituary states that he is from a town named Louis. I have been unable to confirm that information. He never spoke to his children or grandchildren about his family. He is a mystery to me and the rest of my family who are anxiously waiting for me to uncover additional information. If anyone thinks there is a possibility of a connection please let me know. We don't know if he came here alone or with other family members. Because he never spoke of his family we are unsure if he had brothers and sisters, if parents were alive, etc. Any help in my search would be greatly appreciated. Elaine Dieteman-Haberland
