She was admitted to the hospital for treatment due to a heart condition and pneumonia but three days after being there she suffered a stroke from which she never recovered. Born near Quaker City, she was a daughter of Isaac and Mary Engle Hartley and spent her entire lifetime in her native community. She was a member of the Methodist church here. Until her final illness, Mrs. Shuman was very active for a woman of advanced age and lived alone, doing her own work. She spent much time in hand work, making hooked rugs, crocheting, etc. Surviving are two sons, William Hartley Shuman of Clairton, Pa., and Clyde Shuman of Quaker City; a daughter, Mrs. Walter Little of Salesville R D; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p. m. at the Eberle Funeral Home by Rev. Erdis Kollar, pastor of the Quaker City Methodist Church. Burial was made in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, south of Quaker City.
