Bruce, I am quite sure of the Hamilton Co, OH location for Jacob Shuman in the early 1800s. A Jacob Shuman is listed on the tax list for 1810. Family history tells of the land they once owned which is now part of Cincinnati. Perhaps, the Springfield is not correct. I got that from the Internet and am not able to verify it, at this point.
