I hate to even reply with so little information to offer but... before the port for immigrant arrivals in NYC was built on Ellis Island, I think it was called Castle Garden. However, I do not remember the year Ellis Island was built (1890s? Lee Iococca & the 100th anniversary, have your ancestors names put on a brick for restoration - when was that?), or where records for Castle Garden may be. I hope this can guide your search.
