Thanks, Cyndi, for the info re: Jacob Shuman/Shewman. Now, I know why I am having such a hard time tracing Jacob. A seed falling off a wagon is pretty difficult to trace...but I think you are right. I have tried many ways to find out more about him and found only blank walls. Do you know when this Shewman family might have come to the US? I believe some Shumans fought in the Revolutionary War from Virginia. Beverly
