(This refers to Joshua the youngest son of John & Elizabeth SHUMAN) DEATH OF JOSHUA SHUMAN: Taken from Fairmont Free Press 19 July 1900. Died July 14, 1900 at his home near Hagans, WV, Joshua Shuman, aged about 84 years. He had been ill several months. Five children survive him. His wife died a few months since. He was laid to rest Sunday afternoon as the rays of the glorious summer sun beamed brightly down. This father and friend cherished and admired the beauties of poetry and song. His heart was touched and thrilled by the majestic grandeur of natures countless forms. But his long journey is at an end, the weary traveler is at rest. Another obituary was obtained from the LDS film # 0229291 of the newspaper The New Dominion of Morgantown, WV Volume 5 # 104 January 2, 1900 to Dec. 1900. DIED. SHUMAN --Died on Saturday, July 14th, 1900, at his home on Upper Indian Creek near Hagans, Joshua SHUMAN, aged about 84 years. Interment was in the family cemetery at his home on Sunday, July 15th, at 2 p.m. His wife had preceeded to the other shore by only few months. Two sons and one daughter are left sadly bereaved by their death and will have much sympathy in this double bereavement. Mr. Shuman was a honorable, upright and respected citizen and a christian gentleman having been a member of the M.E. church for a number of years.
