I am beginning research into my grandmother, Charlotte Shuman, who was born 16 June 1875 to Riley Shuman and Minerva Arnett in Marion County, WV. She married Larney Elza Toothman and lived in the Rivesville area until her death in 1955. Is it possible that there is a connection between Charlotte Shuman and the Shumans you are researching? I'd appreciate any information you could provide. Thank you, Charlotte Britto (yes, I'm her namesake!) brittos@gatewaynet.bigpond.com Charlotte, I am sure that your Shumans are related to my Shumans who lived in the Monongalia/Marion County area. But unfortunately I do not have much on the Shumans past a couple of generations of the early 1800s. I will pass your query on to the Shuman rootsweb.and perhaps someone out there can give you the answers you need. Good luck in your search. Delores Straight

    2. Carolyn, I, for one, would absolutely cherish these photos. I do have a few photos of other lines, but not a lot, and they are the only thing I possess that was passed down in all of my families. Please do scan them and send them in. I think the family album idea is great. With Regards, Linda

    3. Concerning the Georgia Shumans: I was trying to scan in the plat showing the house on it, but my copy of it was scratchy to begin with and therefore did not come out very well. I will make a trip to the court house next week and see if I can get a better copy. Carolyn Jarrard

    3. Christine, My Christian Shuman lived in Pa. and fought in the Revolutionary War (unsure if he was buried in Maryland or Rowan County, NC). I do not know who he married. He migrated down to Rowan County, Salisbury, NC and supposedly died in 1807 as their is a will in Rowan County, NC dated this year. I have written for a copy of the will but have not received it as yet. He was born around 1730 in Germany. One of his sons, Jacob Shuman was born in 1790 and died in Mecklenburg County, NC in November of 1843. He is buried at Settlers Cemetery in Charlotte, NC. Does this help you?
