    3. Cousins, If we make a stretch, this is genealogy-related. I found a web site which was developed by Sara SHUMAN. It's called "Do You Remember?" and you can view it at <http://www.dukemedia.com/sara/index.html>. Along similar lines, we've had several new subscriptions lately, and I've received correspondence from several others. We have a SHUMAN family in MO which I'm quite interested in: they may be the descendants of David SHUMAN, the "lost" son of John, the ancestor to many of us with WV roots. (I keep finding more descendants of John, Philip, and Henry still living in WV; sometimes it seems half the people there are related to us!) We also have a group in northern IL, and one that settled eastern OH about 1800. One of their descendants thinks he has found evidence pointing to a Hugenot connection! Oh, there's also an early settlement in FL that may be separate from the Martin line. Let's give our newcomers a Big Family Welcome! And to you recent members, please don't hesitate to start a discussion-- we'd enjoy a few new topics to "chew on" for a while! Regards! 3. Interesting you should send this while I was sitting here contemplating geography. What does anyone know about the origin of Shumans (or Shumantown) in Columbia County, PA? It's just south east of Bloomsburg. Nancy James Shuman wrote: > > Cousins, > > A while back we had fun identifying all the geographic locations that have > been named for our surname. 3. Cousins, A while back we had fun identifying all the geographic locations that have been named for our surname. Here's one we missed: Shuman, ND Population: 78 ... 1990 Population: 80 (Township) Located in Sargent County, ND For more information: County Courthouse P.O. 3. Normally I sit very quietly and just read all the good information others post. But I did want to say I've seen the three different Shuman files on the Georgia Shumans that are on the internet. I checked them out with census and other official records. Carolyn's is the only one that I could tell had been checked and verified. I'm grateful for the help she's given me in my research and I know that whatever she's posted she checked first. Thank's Carolyn. ===== Becky (bkicen@rocketmail.com) Have a nice day. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo! 3. Cousins, Thanks, Carolyn, for your comments here. Carolyn is one of our most knowledgeable members regarding the Martin SHUMAN Line. I certainly accept her statements regarding the research on that branch of the family, and urge others to do the same. If the cousins who are descendants of Martin care to help out on this, it would be appreciated! 3. I have asked the person who submitted that gedcom to please correct it or take it off the net, because it is confusing a lot of people. It is very much in error. Perhaps if others requested this, it would help get him to take action. Martin Henry Shuman, Jr. had families in both S.C. and Georgia at the same time. 3. Hi Marie, I'm sorry I don't have more information. My father was his stepson, and they lived in Trenton Mo. If Shuman had two wifes I,m not sure. I just know he was married to my grandmother I think before 1930, after that she was married to Walter Ricketts. All her children were Shuman except my dad. Hazel Aleen, Dolphus (Dot), Mildred Ruby & Milford Robert, Virginia Lucilli,Lee Ethel, Joseph & Josephine, Francis, Helen Ellizabith. My father was born Sept 21, 1903, and the rest after that. I have the dates if you want them. Grandmother was born Aug, 29th,1885 in Shenandrah, Iowa, and died Jan.23,1957. I hope this can help you a little. 2. Sorry, I should have been more clear. I was referring to the Georgia and South Carolina Shumans and someone did answer me that this person should get that off the Gedcom since it is very incorrect. Marie

    2. I thought I had my line pretty much down pat and then I downloaded a Gedcom from a geneology program that totally throws me off. My question is " who was the Shuman that had two wives, the second one being Pharabee Sauls? I was originally following a paper trail showing Henry Shuman-Germany father of Martin Henry Shuman (the one baptized at 3 years old according to the Ebenezer Record Book), then his son Martin Henry Shuman, then my line his his son Joseph M. Shuman and his son JJB Shuman, my great grandmother Mary Adeline Shuman. This Gedcom shows Joseph M. Shuman being married to Pharabee Sauls. Don't these people verify a little more before submitting their information? Doesn't anyone have the correct information? Thanks for any help, Marie
