Hello, I was looking through your archives and was unable to find any reference to Shockeys in Iowa. I am working on my husband's family and his gr. grandm. was Mahala Jane Shockey b. in Iowa 27 Feb. 1858. She married Thomas W. Goldsmith 5 Sep 1876 in Lincoln, Logan, Ill. He died prior to 1889 and she m2 William Sherman Armstrong 17 May 1889 in Sedalia, Pettis, Mo. They later moved to Noble Co., Ok. She died 31 May 1929 Billings, Noble, Ok. I have found her on the 1920 census and she lists her parents born as follows: father, Pa; mother, Oh. She also seems to pad her birth year, as she is older than her 2nd husband. My mo-in-law seemed to think she was from Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa but I have found nothing to corroborate that info. I have not found her on either the 1860 or 1870 census as of yet.
