Polly JONES b. 1782 in VA., his son Jacob SHOCKEY b. Mar. 4, 1804 in Berkley, VA. md. Elizabeth ? b. abt. 1811, and his son, Joseph SHOCKEY b.July 10, 1845 md. Permelia BENNETT....we think. I'm trying to piece together all of Joseph's marriages. This is my husband, Stephen Maxfield PAPPAN's great grandfather. My husband's grandmother was Genoba (aka Oba) SHOCKEY, md. Stephen Gerard MAXFIELD. Oba was the daughter of Joseph SHOCKEY and Permelia BENNETT. It seems Joseph may have had 4 wives. 1st. Susan BENNETT, 2nd. Permelia BENNETT, 3rd. Amelia BENNETT, and 4th Sara J. (he md. her in 1895). If anyone is interested, you can go to my website and check out the many families I have, among them, the SHOCKEY line.
