The principle's name was Thelma Shockey. Now, I still talk to her grandson from time to time. His name is Casey, and we went to elementary school together. Now, he recently told me he has an aunt that is suppose to be related to "some football player" named Jeremy Shockey. I think it is so wierd that I just happen to go to school with someone who has the name Shockey in their family, and so do I !!! That is weird enough. But it just keeps getting stranger!!! His mom's maiden name, by the way, is Barbara Shockey. I don't know what Thelma's moms name was. Looks like we both go back to the same roots!!!

I believe Sep 1844 is in error, although that date is reported many times in various internet sites.. I have found the Orphans Court papers pertaining to his death, and the settlement of the sale of his property. These papers state that he died in Dec 1843, intestate, and on 8 January 1844 "letters of administration were granted to Daniel Lepley" in a Orphans Court session of that date. These papers were not filed, and on 14 July 1846 a petition was filed by a son-in-law to award a citation to the administrator to settle his account within 40 days. The citation was issued on that date. (This account was not settled until 25 May 1850). In these court papers the names of his 6 children are listed, as well as their spouses if married. Based on that data, I believe the Orphans Court records are probably correct. Any comments? Bob

At first, you could click on Cora Parker, and it would bring up all her kids. Now, it only says private. It now lists Cora as the only child Dora had. It seems as if my name is on there as the update, but I did not make her info private. Someone did for whatever reason. Anyway it is so weird. I was just doing this for fun, but it seems that I have tripped onto something - story of my life!!!!

I would love to know what you have put together. I believe you and I are kin. If I am not mistaken, your grandmother and my grandmother were sisters. My grandmother was Alma (Shockey) Eastham and they lived just across from each other in McKinney. Is this the same "Aunt" Cora Parker? I have read your other postings. My mom has a newpaper article (found in my grandmother's things after she passed) from where our great grandfather had an "accident" at the railroad tracks. Nothing new nor exciting in this town, save that which is matrimonial, and there is plenty of that going on. Last week here was joy conferred on six happy souls, John G. LACY to Miss Sarah LEVISEE; Elbert ROVERTS to Sarah REED; C. C. WISEMAN to Callestie BAILY, and I expect there are more wants to. Mr. W. B. DUFF, who has been at Cornwall for some time, mining, has returned with money and is happy. We have one man in jail awaiting Circuit Court, Mr. Ballard HANEY, charged with forgery. I would greatly appreciate any help. She was born in PA between 1823-26? Marries Joseph Martin in April 1843 at Crawford Co. OH Found in 1850 Census for Crawford Co. OH Moves to Wayne Co. Iowa and is in 1860-1870 Census Moves to Chautauqua Co. KS and is in the 1880 Census Dies in Chautauqua Co and is buried in Crum Cemetery. I do find a John W Shockey and an Abraham living in Wayne Co. Iowa living close to them but unsure as to their relationship if any.
