Clarksville Baptist Church, Demont Road: Shiver, Nellie Mae (Smith), born 3-13-1930, died 5-26-50 Shiver, Phyllis Marie (McDonald), born 9-16-1941 --- Was called to appraise home of Louie Shiver a couple of weeks ago. Guess what? He wasn't of our race. He wasn't home, but I told his wife, Girlie Shiver, that my family came from SW Georgia and would be interesting to know where his came from. You should have seen the look on her daughter's face when my son and I walked in and introduced ourself. The girl, seemed to be a teenager, gave her mom a very funny look! He must be well off as they have four sat dishes and several cars in yard! My Dad did tell me earlier this year (age 84), that his uncle, Loyd Shiver , in Camilla, had a black family that worked for him by name of Beacham, and one of them got in trouble over a cutting or something of that nature. So uncle Loyd loaded up his belongings and moved him and his family over to Houston County, AL to get him out of harm's way. That family, or their descendants still live in the Ashford area .
