To SHIVER-L (and SHIVER-D) listmembers: Just wanted to let all of you know that I've just made a quick change to the list utilities for SHIVER-L that will basically direct replies to the list. I figure we are a pretty cozy bunch, and don't mind reading one another's replies. Just be aware that this is going to occur though, so if you want to send something PERSONAL (or that you don't want read by the whole list!), make sure that you either send a new message to that individual's e-mail address, or replace <SHIVER-L@rootsweb.com> with their address if you hit the REPLY TO: button. I did this mostly so that everyone could see the answers being sent about research questions, since generally people hit the "Reply To:" button and don't address their answers to the list (which I think would be helpful). There are about 70 subscribers to our list though (can you BELIEVE that?), so it will increase traffic on the list. If you find that you are getting too many messages (normally we're a pretty sedate list, but I'm hoping to shake things up and get us talking more frequently), rather than unsubscribing, please just unsub from the mail mode (SHIVER-L), and resubscribe to the digest mode (SHIVER-D). Be aware that if you do this, you won't get the messages as frequently, and you'll usually get several at a time in one e-mail. This reduces the number of messages, but also gets you a little "behind" the list timewise. (The digest will be sent out about 18 hours or so after a message is received by the server -- including any replies, etc.). I hope the new structure will help all of us keep up with the discussion better!
