Just a quick note... I notice that in Abraham's will, where he lists the children of Daniel (who predeceased him by over 10 years, and left a widow with 5 small children, she then died a few years later from what I can gather) as: Item. To ABRAHAM SHIVER, HETTY SHIVER, LEWIZER SHIVER, JEFFERSON SHIVER, and MENTRY SHIVER, the children of DANIEL SHIVER, deceased, five dollars, divided between them in addition to what they have already received. This item in Abraham's will seems to indicate that Daniel had a son Abraham. Given the penchant that those in the South have for giving their children two names and then using the middle one, I wonder if this could be James A(braham?) Shiver? He would have been born about the right time (1830) or so... Also, this item in Abraham's will is also the basis for my previous statements that the two girls, age 17 and 19, listed with Elijah SHIVER in Dale Co., AL in 1850 were not his children at all, but Daniel's girls, who he and his wife Nancy raised after Daniel and Mentena died.
