    2. Drexel Shiver's book covers that line and how some of the family left Hamilton Co and went to what is today Homestead, FL, where the mayor is a Shiver and a descendant of that line.

    3. I have the pages from the Asa Joiner Book. My mom, a librarian, copied them for me some time ago. They confirmed a bunch of names and dates I had already gotten from other sources (MKKozy's pages, mostly), but I had forgotten that they said anything about cousins!! I mean I "knew" Arkansas and Marshall were kissing cousins and all, but only through some geneology that was done by my mom when I was little. I don't know if you count it as definitive documentation, but every little bit helps. Send me snail mail addresses and I'll send you copies. Oh and also I have the pages with Arkansas' obituary (no source noted on page, like what newspaper?). I'll get my mom to check on it in the book. That's at the Tifton library, by the way, in the geneology room. MERRY XMAS!!! Anna P.S. The pages on Manning and Elizabeth also have a great picture of them when they were older (again no source noted, I'll check on it). ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

    1. [SHIVER] Marriage Record
    2. Lyrice McCranie
    3. For Tracie Crawford and others I found a marriage record for Mrs. Margaret D. Cross and Robert J. Bevill as follows: MARRIAGE; Date and place found in "Huxford Genealogical Society Magazine," Volume XVII, Number 3, September 1990, "Some Hamilton County, Florida Early Marriages" see Robert J. Bevill to Mrs. Margaret D. Shiver May 12, 1873. >From this marriage date and going by data on 1880 census record for Robert and Margaret, we know that Julia, Rebecca, and Granville were Robert and Margaret's children with Harrison being a son by Robert's first wife. And of course, Emma Virginia was listed as a step child! Tracie, You might already have this marriage data, but just in case you did not, I'm sending it on! I wonder who Robert's first wife and mother of Harrison was???? Also we know that Isaac either had to have died or they divorced between 1865 (date of birth for Emma Virginia Shiver) and May 1873 when Margaret and Robert married. Have you ever found a date of death for Issac? If so, would you please send it along with burial data if you have it????? I see from your posting that Eugenia married Benjamin Franklin Zipperer - do you or anyone out there have any data on her children? You see how far behind I am on reading all these messages as I just got around to this one today! Lyrice

    2. Lyrice McCranie
    3. Hi Gang, I know its Christmas and everyone is busy but I ran across something that I would like to run by you! As you all know, I have long supported the THEORY that Enoch, Manning, Ransom, and Fleming were brothers and I THINK sons of James, son of J/H. Well I ran across something the other day that also pointed in this direction; In book, "The Asa Joiner Family of Mitchell County, Georgia," written by A.H. Clark in 1967, in the article about Manning (Dow) Shiver and Elizabeth Joiner Shiver, Mr. Clark stated that Arksansas Shiver married Marshall Shiver a second Cousin. He also states that William Alfred Shiver married second Effie Shiver, a second Cousin. They would be second cousins if Fleming and Manning Were brothers!!! Fleming had Henry Fleming who had Marshall. Manning had Dow who had Arksansas - thus Arksansas and Marshall were second cousins in this manner. Effie was a little off - I believe she was actually William second cousin one removed. Fleming to Henry Fleming to Shack to Effie Manning to Dow to William Alfred (William and Shack would be second cousins) This book was written in 1967 and so 33 years ago someone was thinking that (at least) Fleming and Manning were brothers!! I just noticed this and thought that I would pass this along to you all. I believe that this is just another little bit of "proof" that lends itself to my theory that these four boys were brothers. Happy Holidays to all, Lyrice

    3. Received your e-mail. My father in law was Adell (spelling?) Shiver. He was born in Slocumb, AL 08-08-08. He had several bothers and sisters, I believe there was 13 in all. I know 2 of the brothers names. Tom-last known to be in Olathe, KS and Joe in Alaska. Several of them live in Florida. We only met them once, and not all of them, when my father in law died in 1977 in Butler, PA. Maybe somebody knows of this family.
