    3. Sandra, thanks. Mary K has already suggested that we post them on her website, and I say, the more the merrier! I haven't got them scanned, yet, but will soon...got a paying customer yesterday, so my own stuff has to wait for a couple of days. then, I'll send them one at a time to keep from jamming up your box...do you have ICQ? It's a better, faster way to send than regular e-mail. 3. Hi Mary K, I show the same children for Jacob Shiver Jr. and Sara Ann Swilley as you, plus two more. They are (1) Dorcus Shiver, b. abt 1810 in Ga, d. 16 Sept 1895 in Coffee County, AL, and buried in the Howell Farm Cemetery in Coffee County and (2) Elizabeth Shiver, b. 16 Mar 1828 in Wilkinson County, Ga, d. 1906.. Dorcus married John McIntosh, and Elizabeth married Henry Snellgrove. When Sarah Ann (Swilley) Shiver died, all of her children, and their spouses, are named as heirs to her estate, except Elizabeth and Henry Snellgrove, so I have a question mark about her. Also, there is a question about the date of birth of Samuel James Augustus Shiver, You show 10 Apr 1815, I show 10 Apr 1823, and D.E. Cain shows 10 Apr 1825. There is a family cemetery on the Howell farm in Coffee County, AL, which has several McIntosh graves (this may have been the McIntosh farm many years ago). One of the gravestones says:" Dorcus, wife of John McIntosh, died 9/16/1895, she died at 85". I'm sure she wasn't Dorcus Emaline "Duck" Shiver, since she married Barry Arnette. Mary Shiver married Chapman Motley on 12 Sept 1839 in Greene County, Al. They had 9 children; one was a daughter, Susan Motley, b. 1854 in Alabama, died 10 July 1939 in Coffee County. Susan Motley married Dan McIntosh, son of John McIntosh and Dorcus Shiver. Dan and Susan are buried in the Howell farm cemetery, near Dorcus Shiver McIntosh. In Jacob Shiver III's will in item 10 he mentions Dorcus McIntosh, and in item 12, he appoints brothers, Samuel and Nicholas, and C. S. Motley as his excutors. Hope this clears things up a little. 3. Bill - I don't even have a Dorcus listed as a daughter of Jacob. I'd be interested to know what other children you have listed for Jacob. If you take a look at my "2Jacobs" page on the web site, you'll see who I have listed and what I have for them. I noticed that Jacob (who married Sara Ann SWILLEY)'s son, Jacob (who married Catherine COOPER) had a daughter named Dorcas Emaline. Could these have gotten intermingled? I didn't have the information on who Mary married either... (Jacob who md. Catherine COOPER also had a daughter named Mary, and a daughter named Gilley who md. a BARTLETT (as listed in Jacob's will of 1859). Can you help me straighten this out? I'd be VERY grateful! :-) Mary Kathryn -- Mary Kathryn Kozy mkozy@attglobal.net My Home Page: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~marykozy/ South King Co. Gene. 3. Seeking information on Dorcus Shiver, supposedly the daughter of Jacob Shiver Jr. and Sarah Ann Swilley. My information states that Dorcus, and her sisters Gilley and Mary, were married in Greene County, Alabama in the 1830's. Gilley married William Thomas Prestwood, Mary married Chapman L. Motley, and Dorcus is suppose to have married John McIntosh. I spent yesterday at the Greene County courthouse in Eutaw, Alabama, and found the marriage records for Gilley and Mary but not Dorcus. There were no records for a John McIntosh, in Greene County. Can anyone verify/ refute/ expand as to the existence of Dorcus Shiver? Since Jacob Shiver was married to Dorcus "last name unknown", it seems reasonable that Jacob Jr. would name one of his daughters after his mother. An interesting thing happened on my way home from Greene County yesterday. I was driving south on US Highway 43, and stopped at a rest stop in Washington County. This rest area is very close to the Tombigbee River, and there was a historic marker there listing early settlers of the area. One of the names was Captain John McIntosh. And further south, I passed through a small town named McIntosh, named after it's founder. Needless-to-say, I'm going to research this further, and would greatly appreciate any information on John McIntosh. Bill Cassady
