Yes, I would like a copy! I am the grandson of George Ennis Shiver and Rosa Lee Shirah. Lee
I sent this back to Laura, and then realized that someone else might have the same question, so I'm sending it to the list as well... Laura - Just cut off everything but the original part: http://draweb.dos.state.fl.us/. Click on English, then at the top there is a little link to Photo Collection. Then just type SHIVER in the search engine. Works real slick! :-) Mary K. P.S. - If this ever happens with any other links, just take the "www.xxx.xxx" part. You should be able to follow their path from there... MK -- Mary Kathryn Kozy mkozy@attglobal.net My Home Page: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~marykozy/ South King Co. Gene. Mary Kathryn, How did you find a database? The only thing I found was a window saying the connection had expired. Since you didn't specify who the picture was, and the link had expired, I checked for SHIVER in that database, and yes, Jacob SHIVER is a relation, though not directly, of Enoch (I too descend from Enoch, he is my 4th-g-grandfather). Jacob was the son of Abraham and Martha SHIVER. He and two of his brothers (Issac and Bonaparte) went to Florida in the mid-1850s to settle. Abraham is the son of John & Hannah of Kershaw Co. So, if as I suspect, Enoch is the son of James (son of John & Hannah), this Jacob and our Enoch would have been first cousins! :-) Hope that helps a bit... Hello: I seek to find a John Hardy Shivers born somewhere near Turner County, GA around 1900-1910. He married in Turner County, GA one Bessie Cothran On Oct. 8, 1921 by J. W. Bellflower. I would love a copy of that marriage record, and willing to pay all cost for it. But would like to know if that is not possible who he may have belonged to in the Turner County, Area of GA. With his wife being born in 1901 He could have even been born in the late 1890's Say around 1895-1899 timeframe as well. His wife lived in Jake, GA and in Mt. Zion area of Carroll County, GA at this time. In fact she had been born in Jake GA. Any help welcome. My GrGr Grandparents cames from Ga to Hamilton County...Im kind of new to this have not gotten the book yet, but my Aunt has it, Gr Gr Grandparents were James A. Shiver and Jane Shiver..I just obtained Janes application to recieve a pension due to james service in the confederate army...sorry no scanner. There really wasn,t that much info on it only 2 pages. But it did confirm the names, and ages, and list the company he served with. Linda
If you are from there, then you must have Drexel Shiver's book as he covers that family quite well. My father in law lives in Branford and one of these visits there, I plan to go to the nearby counties and visit graveyards. According to Drexe, there must be more Shivers buried there than anywhere except GA. I would venture that AL is third.
Have a lot of misc to put up but people keep bothering me and needing my services, so I am working all the time and am getting way behind in my main interest, genealogy. Have had quite a bit of data sent me years ago, lying on my desk, ready to put up -- correspondence with Mr. Cain in 1982.
Hello Linda!! Good to see you on here again!! we'll have to get together to chat some more. I miss you. I haven't seen any discussion lately. Did I fall off the list? Kenneth
I must have fallen off the list also..by the way , I had a Uncle named kenneth Shiver. We are the Florida Shivers, originally from Hamilton County Fl, now in Broward county fl. Linda Ciparro
That's some good stuff you have there. Bennie Merritt, who was Calista Hooks' father, ws also Uncle Loyd's son-in-law. Have his obit that I picked up from the Shiver files in Albany library. Have something somewhere about the Williams-Shiver connection. Was El the husband of Mabel. Is he the one who ran the store in Camilla? After all these years my mind can't keep all the Shivers straight.

I received this information a couple of months ago from my Uncle who is a retired doctor. According to him Benny Merritt, who was Lloyd Shiver's nephew, had Marie-Strumpell arthritis of the spine which is generally considered a recessive trait. Below is some more abstract from his email: . . . I think but am not sure Uncle Lloyd and his wife were cousins. I know uncle El Shiver married his first cousin. My dad always said that his mother, though she was a Williams (Mary Elizabeth Williams Shiver), was some kin to the shivers (something like Uncle Lloyd`s second or third cousin I believe.) Remember Isaac sent his foreman out to find a wife for his son from among his relatives, and he returned with a cousin who married his son. I`ve heard of others in south Ga. but don`t remember who they were. . . . Mary Elizabeth Williams Shiver was adopted by Polly and Harmon Shiver of Camilla. I believe that Polly and Harmon are related to Lloyd Shiver's side of the family. All I know about Mary E. Williams Shiver was that she was born on February 4, 1864 in Sneeds, Florida to James B. Williams and Melissa Plair (Player) Williams. James and Melissa were married on February 3, 1859 in Jackson County, Fl. Melissa appears to have died shortly after or at the birth of Mary E. In a letter to her long lost half brother, Mary E. mentions an Uncle Leroy. Uncle Leroy gaves Mary E. to Polly Shiver. Does this thread tie in to anybody else's research.
