    1. [SHERWOOD] SHERWOOD, Harry Jacob
    2. Gertrude Sherwood
    3. I read with a great deal of envy all the successful searches for the Sherwood ancestors. There are Sherwood's on two sides of my husband's family, his fathers's side, and several generations back, also on his mother's side. His mother's family (Tulloch, CRARY, White) had a genealogy prepared in the early 1920's which has been updated by her branch of the family. Included in it are several Sherwood branches. These are not the Sherwood's I am seeking. My husband's paternal grandmother destroyed all family records lest her age be identified. Mary Theresa ALBUS Sherwood, died in Laurel, Maryland in 1960. She died before I met my husband. I am attempting to find his paternal grandfather's family. His grandfather, HARRY JACOB SHERWOOD died in Ridgefield(?), Connecticut in 1954 or 1955. He had three sons, Harry Roy Sherwood (1908-1959), Roland Albus Sherwood (1910-1989) and Edwin ? Sherwood (1913-1993?). I have been lead to believe HARRY JACOB SHERWOOD was born in the late 1870's or early 1880's in or around New York City but I have no proof. He had a social security number, but because he died before 1955, searches of the social security registries have not located him. I have located his sons' social security numbers, but that has not lead me any closer to HARRY JACOB SHERWOOD. Most of the resources I have been able to locate on Sherwood genealogy have come forward to about the 1860s, take a "break" between the 1860's to about the 1920's, and then resume. Does anyone have a "lost" Sherwood great-uncle from that era? from the greater New York City area? Is there an archive for Sherwood's in this time frame?
