In August 1774 the "Freeholders and Inhabitants of the Township of Rye" (NY) passed a resolution against the closing of the port of Boston. In September 1774 some citizens of Rye published a statement to clarify their support of the King. Among those who signed this statement was Nehemiah Sherwood.
