For what it's worth, My greatgrandfather, William Martin Allen, apprenticed to a Mr. Lichtliter in Grundy county, Missouri in the late 1850s. William had been born in Scott county, Illinois. William's father, James, was born in Casey county, Kentucky and his father, John, was born in Frederick county, Virginia. John's father was Benjamin and Ben's father was Robert Allen, who arrived in the colonies about 1735 from county Armagh in northern Ireland. Could there be a connection between William's Mr. Lichtliter and the Frederick county Lichtliters, if the families migrated west together. The idea is intriguing. Yours truly, Bill and Loydean Allen end -----Original Message----- From: J. R.
