This sounded like a very interesting story, and having tried to find some Hessians serving with General George Roger Clark, your Shenandoah native who was so active in the Illionois country during the AmRev., I have been supplied with some material by other historians. Unfortunately, I cannot say that I found the name Warnick/Wernick between those who served with General Clark, and of course, the name of General Steuben cannot be found in Clark's little army neither. Perhaps if you write to the Indiana Historical Bureau, you could get the information you require, mailto:[email protected] this Bureau has been very helpful to me. Sorry taht I cannot do more at this point in time.
