The DeLorme atlas shows Great North Mountain to be the current county line between Shenandoah and Hardy Counties. It looks like it is a range of peaks because it is listed on the map both north and south of the jog at about Wolf Gap and there's a list of peaks along the name. Little North Mountain is in current Rockingham Co. south of the Hardy Co., Shenandoah Co. line.
