I'm researching my family of POLKs from Virginia. I find there has been very little research done on them. I thought I would post some of the information leading up to my grandfather to see if anyone could help me. I first came across Adam POKE (d: 1813)with 6 in household but no names and no parents for him. Haven't gotten him connected to my Polk's. My next POKE was Elizabeth POKE was Elizabeth who m: 9 June 1817 John Barham. I have no parents for her or any other info. My next POKE was Mary POKE m: 7 June 1813 Leonard Lownus. I have no parents for her or any other info. Now MY family with spelling of name POLK: (these I have connected) John Polk b: 1787 m Catherine Hunnerhouser (I think this should be Funkhouser) My father was Funkhouser and they did marry POLK's and my mother was a POLK. Have not come across any other Hunnerhouser in this neck of the woods. (my g-g-g grandfather) Their son: Simeon Poke 1822 - 1863 (my great-great grandfather) m: Dolly/Dorothy Dillinger (I think this should be Dellinger?) Hugh "Howie" Polk b: 1856 (my great-grandfather) m Savilla A.
