Is there someone who knows all about the change in county lines for Frederick/Dunmore/Shenandoah counties in Va? Very early records, say 1750s. I need help with some land deeds I have found. I know my ancestor purchased land in Frederick Co Va 1762, then it was Dunmore, it was Shenaodoah when he sold it in 1787. but now in Dunmore records I have found where he sold some land in 1753, and it says he was from Augusta Co Va. Says land was surveyed in Dec 1753. Mentions land where he now lives......and it sounds like the same land near Woodstock Va - but how could that be Augusta Co? I need help with when the various counties had court houses where land could be recorded, etc. As you can tell, I am very confused right now. Mary [email protected]
