Hi, I have the following quotation from a book about the family of ADAM LONG,SR's family: "...Long ancestors settled in the Valley of Virginia--the Shenandoah Valley--about 1750. In 1796...Adam Long built his home of logs a story-and-a-half high....a mile and a half from the "Old Stone Church" (Fort Defiance), located on the Valley Pike some 11 miles [north] of Staunton, Virginia."
