I think a lot of people went on a rampage assuming they were stolen. By the time I went to eBay's site, the particular ones blasted across the genealogy lists were taken off. So, I don't know if they were stolen or improperly acquired, or not. IF SO, then those sellers need to be prosecuted (but by the FBI? hmmm). Other markers were still there at eBay for sale, though. I looked at one or two, and the description of them stated that they had been replaced in cemetery restorations or when moving a cemetery. But gee whiz, when in history didn't people destroy or steal markers? And when haven't damaged or deteriorated markers been replaced? I do agree that selling such replaced stones or markers is tacky (maybe not illegal though), and may very well lead to thefts for sales of them. Rick
