    1. Re: [WALLACE-L] MIchigan Wallaces
    2. James Wm. Wallace
    3. Myra, Sounds exciting; Albemarle is close to Augusta. I know very little about my Andrew WALLACE yet he is my proven progenitor. I have copies of the marriage bonds that he signed with his brother-in-law Thomas CALBREATH on March 1, 1796 in Augusta County, Virginia. He married Margaret CALBREATH, the daughter of Thomas CALBREATH and Margaret (JOHNSTON) CALBREATH. I have a record of his presence in Augusta County for the property settlement of his father-in-law Thomas CALBREATH in 1801 and I know that they had at least one son, Thomas M. WALLACE, born in 1805 in Tennessee. His mother appears as a widow in the Smith County, TN census of 1820 as Peggy WALLACE, again in 1830 as Margaret, and in 1850 as a member of the household of her son Thomas M. WALLACE. Thomas M. WALLACE married his neighbor and first cousin Jane Calbreath in 1828 and had seven known children. Thomas and Jane removed to Simpson County, Kentucky in 1860. Margaret (Calbreath) WALLACE was born in c.1771 and 25 years of age when she married Andrew. I would guess Andrew to be of the same age. We believe that Andrew died between 1805 and 1820 and are presently researching Blount County, Tennessee. Research in Macon/Smith County, Tennessee wasn't conclusive. Please let me know if you desire any further information. Still looking for the parents of Andrew WALLACE. James Wm.
