I am on a wild goose chase I know and this may be a shot in the dark, but maybe someone out there can help. Here's my story. I am looking for my gggg grandfather, George W. EDDY (I don't know what the W. stands for. My hunch is that it stands for Washington, but it's only a hunch). The info I have has him born in 1801. Two different sources have him born in either New York or New England (quite broad I know). His parents (I don't know their names) died when he was young and he was left in the care of an uncle. Apparently this uncle was "cruel" to him and he left at an early age and went to sea. He led a seafaring life for seven years, returned to North Carolina briefly and then to Virginia. He was married in 1828 (possibly 4 May 1828) to Lucinda TAYLOR who was born 6 Jul 1814 in Virginia (I have no county for her birth). I have her parents listed as Solomon TAYLOR and Sarah LANGSTON with no further info on them either. I assume they're from Virginia also. At least that's why I'm looking here. I do have conflicting info that George and Lucinda may have married in Knox Co, TN though. Although that doesn't make sense. Anyway, sometime after they married they ended up in White Co, TN and had their first child, John A. EDDY (my direct line) in 1831. Lucinda's parents may have migrated with them??? They then moved when John was 18 months old to Allen Co, KY where they settled and died. They had a total of 9 children. I get much of this information from a biography that is posted on the Allen Co, KY genweb site their son, John A. EDDY. I contacted someone who was working on the EDDY line off the VAGENWEB and she gave me some counties to start looking in. She said their were EDDYs in Frederick and Botetourt Counties. She also mentioned looking in Montgomery and Franklin counties which I know aren't covered on this list. What I'm looking for is pretty much anything that may be helpful in my further search. Is there anyone out there who may have info on this EDDY line possibly this TAYLOR line that I am looking at? I am open to any hints or if anyone wants to point me in a certain direction. Thank you so much in advance. Amy Leavens Snohomish, WA
