Stony Creek That is, at some point in time, Edinburg was called Stony Creek. No doubt it was sometimes spelled Stoney Creek. Other hits in Shenandoah County show: Stony Creek (on the Edinburg map) Stony Creek Church of the Brethren (Orkney Springs map) Stony Creek Number Nine Dam (Orkney Springs map) Stony Creek Trail (Orkney Springs map) I get no hits on Elk Run in Shenandoah County but I do get hits in: Rockingham (Rockingham map) Fauquier (Midland map) [populated place also known as Elkrun and Elk Run Church] I also got hits for Elk Run in some counties slightly further away from Shenandoah County. That is they are probably the same stream but not of interest in this case. Walt

    3. I wrote to Linda with information that I found in O'Dell's book and which someone else may find usefull. O'Dell refers to Elk Run as now being Spring Hollow, which according to his maps is on the southern edge of Woodstock. Stoney Creek is just south of Spring Hollow. There are several references to these in his index. Ann
