I had considered tailor/taylor(as a profession), but I didn't see any other professions named in these particular records. In fact, there are multiple John Williams and William Williams with no indication as to profession or relation. The reason I asked this question, the person I am looking for married into a Taylor family. Actually, his wife's mother's maiden name was Taylor. This ancestor also gave one of his sons the middle name Taylor, I assume after his inlaws. I just wondered if it meant anything, such as he lived on the Taylor property, or worked the Taylor farm. In looking at these records, I was hoping to narrow down his parentage. The mention of Taylor caught my eye.
